Class 385 Scotrail Hitachi EMU
3 & 4 Car Electric Multiple Units built by Hitachi. The outer shells and first seven of 70 trainsets were built at Kasado works in Japan, and then shipped to the UK and finished off at Newton Aycliffe's impressive plant in the North East of England.
The Class 385s operate on all of Scotland's electrified network, especially between Edinburgh and Glasgow. They have literally transformed rail travel within Scotland.
