Class 50 "BR Large Logo"
The Class 50 built between 1967 and 68 to haul express passenger services.
They were originally painted in all over BR blue and used for the non-electrified section of the West Coast Main Line between Crewe and Scotland.
Once the electrification was completed the Class 50s were transferred to the Western region out of Paddington. They were replaced by the Inter-City 125 and were once again transferred, this time to the South Western Mainline out of Waterloo to Exeter.
The Large Logo livery came along in 1980 with 50023 Howe being the first loco to sport this iconic livery which suited the large Class 50 very well.
