This artwork features the three key locomotives used on the East Coast Main Line route during the GNER franchise.
Class 43, Class 91 and Class 373/3
Great North Eastern Railway (GNER)
GNER were one of the first privatised franchises, set up back in April 1996 and ran services out of London King's Cross up the East Coast Main Line up to the North East of England and Scotland until December 2007.
The fleet included:
11 InterCity 125 Class 43. Used on routes without overhead wires, including Inverness, Aberdeen and Hull.
31 InterCity 225 Class 91. The main fleet used on all electrified routes to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Leeds.
5 hired Eurostar Regional Class 373/3. These were called White Roses as they worked on services to Yorkshire cities Leeds and York only.
