London Underground 38 Stock
In the 1930s London's Underground trains were the most advanced in the world. The 1938 Tube stock represented a ground-breaking design that set the basic style of Tube trains right up to the 1980s. It was unique to London, designed to maximise passenger accommodation by ingeniously locating all the control equipment below the floor. The train fitted in the city's deep tunnels and the car interiors felt comfortable and spacious.
The London Transport Museum have a 4 car 38 Stock unit preserved at Acton Depot.
Simply beautiful. Less really is more, they set the benchmark in Tube train design for decades.
